Calabria has a long history of domination and political turmoil and is still now one of the poorest areas of Italy. Mafia, crime and political corruption are rife in Italy but in the southern regions these are more evident than in other parts due also to the economical dependency from the central and northern economies. Land of earthquakes and bandits one could describe it. The description however still does not include the dramatic beauty of its coastline or the rough edges of his mountain peaks nor the extreme heat in summer and the blessing of the sunshine for most of the months of the year.
I have always wanted to create a space dedicated to Calabria. The reason being that I live abroad, I miss my native region deeply and I want to share my passion for this extreme southern region of Italy.
Therefore this is a tribute to Calabria, to its culture, its history and traditions.
I hope this passion will be shared by many.
